Private classes have innumerable benefits but.. to name a few, here it goes: Private classes are personal. We work together to create goals, whether that’s learning to relieve stress or to learn a proper plank, we'll come up with a plan to make it happen! Additionally, one-on-one training is what I do best! I primarily work with adults 60+ who are looking to relieve nagging aches and pains or just keep moving in the decades to come. We’ll find the perfect blend of strength, flexibility and balance to meet your individual goals.
Let's set up a call so we can decide if working together is a good fit! If so, I'm happy to help!
Hi! I'm Allison and that's me in the picture.
I'm the owner of On The Mat With Allison, the one-on-one mobile fitness studio that comes to you. I have been training clients and teaching yoga (or some combination of the two!) for over 10 years both online and in San Diego.
I became a fitness instructor because I want to help older adults stay active, balanced, and happy in the activities they enjoy doing. My goal is to help more people achieve their fitness goals of staying active, working through injuries and having fun seeing what they’re capable of! That’s why I love my job- I get to see each client progress in their own unique way.
But since you don't quite know me yet, I want to prove myself to you.
That's why I'm offering you a consultation call so we can see if we would be a good fit. All you have to do is click the button below to claim it!
I typically like to chat with you on the phone before our first session to ensure it is a good fit for all parties. I like to know if you have any specific goals you'd like to meet with our sessions and if you have any past injuries that we need to address. I also like my clients to know that I am a non-diet/non-weight loss trainer, which means I don't focus on the numbers on the scale. Instead, I focus on how exercise feels in your body, what makes you feel stronger, more balanced and more flexible.
I have always been a fitness enthusiast and a long distance runner. I found the exercise made me feel better regardless of the number on the scale and I wanted to share that with others. I have been an ACE certified personal trainer since 2012 and I completed my Vinyasa Yoga training at Prana Yoga Center in 2015. In 2018, I completed my Restorative Yoga Teacher Training and my Yin Yoga Teacher Training too.
Yup! I have trained clients with asthma, back problems, joint pain, mental health issues, arthritis, knee replacements, shoulder replacements and frozen shoulders, pelvic floor injuries, MCL tears, spinal fractures, bulging discs, neuropathy and many more.
I have a certificate in Adaptive Yoga, where I learned how to safely teach yoga to students with the following conditions:
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Lower extremity amputations
Stroke causing hemiplegia and other deficits
Spinal cord injury resulting in paraplegia
Parkinson's disease
Multiple sclerosis
Cerebral palsy
I sure do! I can help you get toned, build muscle and strength, gain flexibility, boost endurance and improve your balance.
Yes! I primarily work with clients in their homes or online so no need to travel! Wherever we meet, we need less equipment than you might think. I use bodyweight, bands and hand-weights for fitness classes and not much more than a mat and blocks for yoga classes!

Not to worry! There's a first time for everything and I'll walk you through it step by step. A few days before our first meeting, I will email you a short list of instructions on how to use Zoom and you're welcome to reach out if any of the points need additional clarification.
If you need to cancel an appointment, please let me know 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the appointment. This ensures that everyone who wants an appointment has the space to book one.
